Management Team

Gift Chansa is co-founder and Artistic Director of Circus Zambia. He is born and raised in Chibolya, Lusaka. Gift studied circus in China and the Netherlands has completed a diploma in Project Management at NIPA (National Institute for Public Administration). He is currently studying sociology at the University of Zambia. Gift is a MTV Squad Ambassador and Queens Young Leader (2018). He has spoken at TEDX Lusaka (2017), International Society of Performing Arts Conference ( New York, 2019) and Communicating the Arts (Sydney 2019). Gift directs and designs shows and programs and comes up with the creative vision for the company.

Charlotte Groen is a co-founder and Executive Director of Circus Zambia. Born and raised in The Netherlands, she attained a Master in Urban Sociology at the University of Amsterdam. Charlotte specializes in designing programs that allow arts and culture to improve living standards for kids at risk in urban areas. She has done work and academic research on the subject in South America, Europe and Africa. Charlotte raises funds, designs programs and develops the business and social visions of the company.

Amos Malokwa is a co-founder and Head of Production of Circus Zambia. He is born and raised in Chibolya and studied circus in China. Amos performed in many countries and collaborated with HIFA, Awaji Arts, Tmesis Theater and international artists. Amos organizes performances, workshops and other circus activities within the company.

Lombe Tembo is a Lusaka native that works as a Programs Manager at Circus Zambia. She has a bachelor of Economics and a Master in Development Studies from UNZA. She has been working in the field of international Development since 2013 and joined the Circus Zambia team in 2020. Lombe is in charge of all social programs and ensures we deliver best possible services to the communities we work with.

Graziella Kuettel is the Organisational Development Coordinator at Circus Zambia and born and raised in Switzerland. She has a Bachelor in Business Administration with a major in Accounting & Controlling. Graziella worked for different small and medium-sized start-up enterprises in the division of Finance, HR and Administration while being highly involved in the organisational building-up of these companies. Graziella’s main tasks are to improve the finance and accounting systems and the support with capacity building of staff members in these areas.

Benard Kaumba is a co-founder of Circus Zambia and is Head of Finance. He is born and raised in Chibolya and studied circus in China. He has performed and conducted workshops all over the world. He is currently enrolled in Zambian Centre for Accountancy Studies. He has done several courses on bookkeeping and Quick Books. Benard takes care of finance and bookkeeping.

Mercy Kambulu is the Lead Performer at Circus Zambia. As Lusaka native she knows all about life in Lusaka. She has performed and led workshops in theatre and circus all over the world. At Circus Zambia she provides creative input in performances and projects, manages projects and is at the forefront of the performances. She also works with Circus Zambia’s female members and functions as a role model. Mercy main tasks are leading projects and performances

Some of our Young Members

Stanslous Kundelungu has been with CZ since 2016, and is well-known for his clown character that won’t leave you indifferent. He is also a workshop facilitator and has just completed a 3 month residency in the UK with Brouhaha International. Stan plans on becoming an administrative manager and is studying a degree in Business Administration at Chreso University.

Charles Malama was one of the first young people from Chibolya to train in circus arts through Circus Zambia workshops. He is now a performer specialized in acrobatics and hand to hand, and has shown his skills in shows around Zambia and the UK. He has also toured the USA with Circus Smirkus in 2020. He is currently finishing his schooling and receives support from Circus Zambia Mind program for school tuitions and supplies.

Angel Phiri is an artist from Garden Compound (Lusaka) that joined Circus Zambia at the age of sixteen. She has developed her balance on stilts to perfection, and is being trained as a circus workshop leader. She combines her circus practise with school time, and is currently enrolled in high school thanks to the scholarship project.

Belinda is a 17-year old aerial artist from Garden Compound (Lusaka). She joined Circus only two years ago and focused in aerial silks training. She is now one of the main characters in the air for Circus Zambia performances! Aside from circus, she also enjoys dancing, and is currently finishing Grade 9 with the support of Circus Zambia scholarships.

Moses is one of the youngest Circus Zambia members. He was born in Chibolya and joined us at the age of 10. His favourite skills are clowning and aerial trapeze, he was the one to welcome Prince Harris on his visit to Circus Zambia!

Matilda is also one of the youngest members of Circus Zambia. Born and raised in Chibolya, Matilda joined the circus at age 8. She is into aerial and dancing and is enrolled into the Circus Zambia scholarship program.
